APPRECIATION FOR BARRY ACE

We are ecstatic that Barry Ace, who Heffel proudly represents, has had a number of very important milestones for his works this season. Ace’s Mino-bimaadiziwin (The Way of Good Life)—Men and Women’s Regalia Suite is currently featured in the landmark exhibition Radical Stitch at the Mackenzie Art Gallery in Regina until August 28, 2022. Four of Ace’s exceptional works will also be part of the exhibition Art of Indigenous Fashion at the IAIA Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (MoCNA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA from August 19, 2022 through January 8, 2023. The artist is part of the exhibition wāwīndamaw—promise: Indigenous Art and Colonial Treaties in Canada, Nordamerika Native Museum (NONAM), Zurich, Switzerland (April 8 – September 17, 2022), with a second session taking place at the Musée d’ethnographie de Genève (MEG). Finally, a testament to the importance and appreciation of Ace’s talent and body of work, his iconic Fox Tail Moccasins has been acquired by the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Heffel has on offer a number of important works by Ace through private sale, which can be viewed on our website and in our galleries in Toronto and Montreal.
