What is the role of the artist in highlighting indigenous struggles? A meeting between two committed indigenous artists. Tuesday 1 March at 7pm (1 pm Eastern Standard Time | Ontario, Canada).

This third Gákte-Quipo Online Rendezvous invites you to meet the artists Barry Ace and Cannupa Hanska Luger. They are invited to discuss their role as artists in the struggle for the recognition of indigenous rights, particularly in North America. This meeting is part of a series of appointments that are virtually part of the time of the meeting, the last part of the exhibition “Environmental Injustices – Indigenous Alternatives“. Just as the work Gákte-Quipo connects the stories of indigenous peoples around the world, these encounters connect the artists with the public who want to hear their stories.

Barry Ace is represented by Heffel Galleries (Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver).
