ACE INCLUDED IN MADWEYÀSHKÀ | LIKE A WAVE EXHIBITION AT THE ÂJEGAMÔ ART SPACE – CANADA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS (OTTAWA)

Madweyàshkà | Like a Wave – June 18, 2024, to May 19, 2025

Curated by Olivia Kristoff (Cowessess First Nation), Madweyàshkà | Like a Wave highlights works of art by First Nations and Métis artists predominantly featured in the Art Bank collection.

These include Barry Ace, Carl Beam, Joane Cardinal-Schubert, Rosalie Favell, Greg A. Hill, Robert Houle, Nadia Myre, David Neel, Shelley Niro, Edward Poitras, Jane Ash Poitras, Michael Robinson and Jeff Thomas.

The year 2024 marks a decade of activities in Âjagemô.  The exhibition Madweyàshkà | Like a Wave explores the idea of crossroads and meeting places, echoing the Anishinaabemowin meaning of the word ‘Âjagemô.’

The 3,000-square-foot Âjagemô exhibition hall at the Canada Council offices is a display and performance space for contemporary Canadian art. Taking its name from an Algonquin word for “crossroads,” Âjagemô gives the public an opportunity to see works from the Art Bank collection and to experience other art events.
